Typing on Android

01/12/11

I'm typing this on my Android tablet ... well, typing is too generous a word: it implies I'm making rapid progress for a start, which I'm not. And that's down to my difficulty in finding a plausible touch screen keyboard. With Android you can replace what keyboard software the manufacturer has installed with your own (unlike iOS I gather).  read more ...

Having Fun With Seven Inches

14/11/11

I remember the day I saw an iPad for the first time. It was on Waterbeach station and I was setting out on one of my "50 at 50" trips. Two young nerds were getting very excited over something and when I asked they showed me. And it was very cute: they had a "Winnie the Pooh" e-book open with full colour illustrations and they were scrolling through it. Touch screen, crisp graphics, page turn animations. Lovely.  read more ...

In Praise of my Defy

23/05/11

The madness of the last month and a half have left me with little time or energy to sit back and wibble on here as I normally like to do but I've got a little more time now and I've been very taken with a new toy I bought a couple of months ago now just before this all began.  read more ...

What's good about Ebooks

07/11/10

When I last wibbled about ebooks I did finish by saying that it wasn't all bad news and I would try to write something about the positives. So here's some of them:  read more ...

Struggling with a Tattooed Girl

05/11/10

I have already wibbled about ebooks and prices but I've just been through the pain of trying to acquire my first ebook for money. The lucky winner was Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". It's a book I wanted to read anyway; not to mention being the book on the sample photo Sony put out to promote the PRS-350 (which I now possess).  read more ...

Ebook Pricing

18/10/10

I am a sinner. I know I'm a sinner because I've just bought yet another gadget I don't really need, a Sony Reader PRS-350 Pocket Edition ebook reader, largely on the strength of this review.  read more ...

How I was Finally Touched

03/10/10

I have talked here before about my struggle with my Samsung i8910 phone and how I really wasn't getting on with it, especially doing data entry via the touch screen. As a result I has concluded that I probably needed a phone with a physical keyboard. Well things have moved on.  read more ...

Touch Screen Phones

26/07/10

I've seen a couple of postings recently talking about whether touch screen really is better than a keyboard for a phone: this one on Nokia Conversations and this one on All About Symbian. It's confirmed my suspicions about my recent purchase of a Samsung i8910 HD.  read more ...

Wibbling

12/07/10

As I'm suffering another bloody migraine today and so not getting any useful work done I thought I'd wibble here as I'd not done so for a while. Apologies in advance for any typos. I'll re-read this later and fix.  read more ...

Acer Aspire One

11/02/10

I've had this Acer netbook for a couple of weeks now and fiddled about with it and so it's probably time to review where I am with it. ...  read more ...
