Water in the Winter Pond

»

We've finally got some water in the "winter pond" in Milton Country Park. This is a genuinely seasonal pond appearing some winters and not others, depending on how much rainfall we've had. It used to fill most winters but then it went several years without really getting going. Last winter we had enough rain to fill it for a while and now it's filling again, as you can see.

It may look like a muddy mess but it provides an interesting habitat and when it does appear it's well worth taking a look as you wander past to see what's about.

Here's another photo taken from a bit further round where it looks more pond like. We need a bit more rain yet to really make go of it.
