Lightning Pics

Last night's thunderstorm, at the end of a very hot day, gave me a chance to try taking pictures with my digital camera with a couple of good results. The image below is a crop of the second.

The pictures were taken using my Olympus C-2100UZ.

The first one was a 10 second exposure looking south towards Cambridge. I only caught the edge of it so this is a crop of the original but other than that it's untouched. Note the speckling from the CCD.

For the second one I was pointing north east over the Fens and got the whole thing. This was a 16 second exposure image has been "despeckled" using The Gimp to get rid of some of the noise.
