Delicious yes, simple?

»

Beth shopping at Tesco today and brought us back a little treat: Cinnamon Whirls allegedly from their own bakery. And very nice they were too.

Cinnamon Swirls

Here's the ingredients list.

Ingredients: Pastry (58%), Sultana (20%), Cream Cheese Icing (14%), Cinnamon Filling (6%).

and on the label there's a bit at the top that says "The Bakery, simple delicious recipes".

Now that looks like a simple recipe to me, perhaps we could make them at home ... except that this is the complete ingredients list.

Pastry contains: Wheat Flour, Water, Vegetable Oil, Egg, Sugar, Yeast, Dextrose, Invert Sugar, Salt, Soya Flour, Emulsifiers (Mono- and Di Glycerides of Fatty Acids, Mono- and Di-Acetyltartaric Esters of Mono- and Di Glycerides of Fatty Acids, Sodium Stearoyl-2-Lactylate), Carboxymethylcellulose, Colour (Carotenes), Flour Treatment Agent (Ascorbic Acid), Flavouring, Preservative (Acetic Acid). Cream Cheese Icing contains: Sugar, Cream Cheese, Water, Glucose Syrup, Emulsifiers (Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids, Polysorbate 60, Polysorbate 40), Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Thickener (Agar), Flavouring, Salt, Colours (Carotenes, Titanium Dioxide, Curcumin), Lactic Acid, Acidity Regulators (Phosphoric Acid), Acidity Regulators (Citric Acid), Cinnamon Filling contains: Sugar, Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Cinnamon, Dried Egg White, Dried Egg, Dried Skimmed Milk, Raising Agents (Disodium Diphosphate, Sodium Carbonate), Salt, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Cream Cheese contains: Thickeners (Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum), Full Fat Soft Cheese, Salt, Gelling Agent (Carob Gum), Vegetable Oil, Dextrose, Cheese Powder, Water, Modified Maize Starch.

So where exactly do I buy Mono- and Di-Acetyltartaric Esters of Mono- and Di Glycerides of Fatty Acids?
