Another Squeezebox

»

I've forgotten to mention this but my Christmas present to me this year which I bought at the start of December was a Squeezebox Boom1 for the bedroom.

Squeezebox Boom You may remember that I bought a Squeezebox Classic back in the summer and I loved that and use it a lot, especially to listen to BBC "Listen Again" streams while lying on the sofa in mid-migraine.

The Classic needs external amp and speakers though, which limits its versatility.

The Boom is different: it's essentially a baby Classic built into a ghetto blaster. Mains powered only and has its own remote control. You can set alarms too, so it's ideal for the bedroom.

Meanwhile on the plugin front someone's written a plugin for BBC iPlayer so you can listen to radio content from there too on either Squeezebox.

It's all very cool. Not that cheap mind you but better something that works than our old £50 bedroom internet radio which ... errr ... didn't a lot of the time.

  1. I often buy myself a birthday or Christmas present as I happily spend more than anyone else will and I know what I like.
