More Seizures

»

Two more (so far) partial seizures today, more or less a repeat of the ones I had on Thursday, 2/11 and Wednesday 8/11 so that resets the driving licence clock. Arse.

This times symptoms were a bit different:

  • feeling like the world was caving in and I was heading towards unconsciousness (I think that's what I had before full on tonic seizures but I could be wrong).
  • tingling around my head
  • a (fake) strong smell with the second one
  • a strong sense of deja vu

The icing on the cake this time was that, this being Sunday, I was on the phone to my dad when the first one kicked off so I had to dump the call pretty quickly so I could move to a place of safety (I was in my study when it started) and I knew he would be worried so I phoned back a little later and reassured him.

I've also emailed my epilepsy nurse to update her. After we met she wrote to my GP and me recommending that I stay on 700mg plus 900mg per day of Epilim Chrono with the option of increasing it to up to 1000mg morning and evening if necessary so I've also contacted the surgery via their web form and suggested they prescribe me another 200mg on the morning, so I'll then be on 900mg plus 900mg.

Update 19/02/18

Got up early this morning at about 5:10am as I had a bit of a headache and was feeling (correctly I think) dehydrated rather than migrainous so wanted a cup of tea. Sitting on the sofa at 5:35am I had another partial, just like yesterday's, yet another at 6:25am, a third at 6:53am, a fourth at 7:10am, a fifth at 7:20am, a sixth at 8:42am, a seventh at 11:48, an eighth at 16:42, and a ninth at 17:57.

Between the seventh and eighth I got to speak to Dr Macaulay at our surgery on the phone. He had already increased my prescription to 900mg twice a day (and I've taken another 200mg tablet for this morning) but although he offered me the chance to see someone today we concluded between us that there wasn't much to do beyond what we'd already discussed so he's just logged it for now and left me the option of another phone or in person consultation.

Oh yes, and the icing on the cake was a migraine on top of all this but kept that under control with paracetamol.
